Northern Ireland left-back Jamal Lewis has been forced to withdraw from the Northern Ireland squad to face the Netherlands and the Czech Republic.

It had been hoped that the Norwich star would be fit after overcoming an elbow injury to play the full game as the Canaries lost 5-1 to Aston Villa on Saturday.

However, the 21-year-old picked up a knee problem during the game and will play no part in either Thursday's Euro 2020 qualifier or next Monday's friendly.

Lewis will instead remain with his club to be assessed by medical staff.

Northern Ireland boss Michael O'Neill currently has no plans to call in a replacement.

That leaves Shane Ferguson as a potential option to fill in at full-back, with Conor McLaughlin and Michael Smith also in the panel, although both are usually right-sided players.

Lewis, who has 11 caps for Northern Ireland, has become an integral part of O'Neill's new-look squad with his high-energy, high-pressing style epitomising the way the team has played since last year's Nations League campaign.
