Adam Barton - 6
Didn't have a major impact on the game, but often midfielders of his type get through quite a bit of work without it being noticed. Looked cool in possession and hopefully there will be more appearances in a green shirt.

Jonny Tuffey - 6
Quiet night on his first start at Windsor Park. Let the wet ball slip out of his grasp when making one save low to his right which resulted in a corner. Made a fine save from Youssef Hadji later in the first-half before being withdrawn.

Lee Hodson - 6
Made defending his priority on his debut and made a good job of it. With Niall McGinn in front of him it was better that he didn't try to burst forward anyway. Didn't put a foot wrong.

Aaron Hughes - 6
Had to adjust to having a new partner beside him as Jonny Evans hasn't played at centre-half too often for Northern Ireland. Was put under pressure in the 45 minutes he played, but largely coped without too much difficulty.

Jonny Evans - 7
Great to see Evans given a decent run out in his natural position. Talked the younger and more inexperienced men around him through the game with his great organisational skills.

Ryan McGivern - 6
Loves to get forward and tried to do so at every opportunity on a decent night for the youngster, which was cut short through injury. Over-ran the ball once or twice, but wasn't punished.

Niall McGinn - 6
One of McGinn's quieter nights at Windsor Park. He did well to fight for the ball in the corner shortly before half-time and found Rory Patterson with his cross, only for the striker to be crowded out.

Paddy McCourt - 8
Had to go off at half-time with an injury but before that he was the one player on the pitch who was providing a spark. Was frustrated at a lack of movement when he had the ball. Answered a lot of questions about his workrate.

Johnny Gorman - 7
Started the game on fire, making penetrating runs down the left wing and put a couple of dangerous crosses into the box. Faded later on, but definitely an exciting prospect.

Chris Brunt - 6
Revelled in a role which saw him get on the ball much more than at any other time in his international career. A more than worthwhile experiment by Nigel Worthington. Interesting to see if it's repeated in a game that matters.

Rory Patterson - 7
Thoroughly deserved his goal after the work he's put in for the team, not just in this game, but in his last three internationals alone up front. Showed real willingness to chase every ball and was a handful for defenders.

Substitutes
Alan Blayney (for Tuffey 46) - 5
At fault for the goal. Maybe had other things on his mind having become a father yesterday.

Rory McArdle (for Hughes 46) - 6
Made his presence felt early on with a crunching tackle. Steady performance.

Michael O'Connor (for McCourt 46) - 6
Showed determination and was always looking to get on the ball.

Josh McQuoid (for Brunt 46) - 5
Earned the penalty but overall a lack of decent service saw him struggle to make a real impact.

Colin Coates (for McGivern 62) - 5
Comfortable performance from the defender, though never under any real pressure.

Josh Magennis (for McGinn 68) - 5
Made one surging run forward, but unfair to judge him when playing out of position.
