Watch: McKiernan fires Northern Ireland Under 16s to win over Scotland

Northern Ireland 2-1 Scotland

Northern Ireland's Peter McKiernan scored the winning goal as the hosts grabbed their first win of the 2017 Victory Shield.

Portadown's Alberto Balde had given NI an early lead at Seaview with a stunning 20 yard effort into the bottom corner but Scotland equalised shortly after, paving the way for McKiernan to net the all-important third goal. The Cliftonville forward profitted from sterling work by Dungannon Youth midfielder Ben Gallagher, jinking past his opponent and threading through an inch-perfect pass for a fine finish.

Darren Murphy's Under 16s had narrowly lost out to the Republic of Ireland 1-0 in their opening game on Monday but put that right at Seaview. NI will finish off their campaign against Wales at Seaview on Friday (kick-off 5pm).
