Ards must start proving that we can take anyone's scalp: Nixon
Colin Nixon has insisted that Ards are a match for anyone on their day ahead of tomorrow's clash with leaders Linfield.
Ards are having major problems scoring and have slipped to second bottom in the table after losing their previous four league games - most recently going down 1-0 to an injury-time goal at Warrenpoint.
Facing a Linfield side who have moved top and have conceded only three times in 11 Danske Bank Premiership matches this season is just about the last fixture Nixon could have hoped for.
But the former Glentoran hero is ready to dust himself down, lift his players and attempt to deliver a big performance at the Bangor Fuels Arena.
"I've said before that on our day we are a match for anyone but at this moment in time we are having too many when we are off colour," said Nixon. "Linfield will be tough and we have to rise to the occasion.
"Our season has been funny because bar the last two games against Institute and Warrenpoint, which were devastating defeats for us, the boys have done well and worked hard.
"We have had horrendous injuries which is unprecedented. I've never seen the like of it but you can't keep using that as an excuse because Warrenpoint were there for the taking. Three points were there for us and we need to learn how to get them."

Ards were not expected to be one of the sides struggling but they are in the thick of a relegation battle right now.
Nixon added: "Week in, week out we are starting as the better team but can't keep it going. We are not getting results and you can't get anything if you don't score, so we must address that."
