Glentoran gaffer Gary Haveron is set to wield the axe on Wednesday night.

With eight players out of contract, Haveron - whose side signed their season off with 1-1 draw at home to Ards; Eric Foley cancelling out Kyle Cherry's opener before Jonathan Smith saw a late penalty saved by visiting keeper Aaron Hogg - is likely to release a number of players.

"I'm meeting our out of contract players on Wednesday night to tell them whether or not we will be retaining them," he said.

"We have around 17 players who are still under contract and they will be coming back next year. Those guys have got to come back with a fresh approach for the new season. I've planned a very tough pre-season for the players because we desperately need to be ready to go in August."
