Carrick seek new boss as United trio pen fresh deals

Ballinamallard United 4 Carrick Rangers 1

By Gareth Cauldwell

Carrick Rangers manager Aaron Callaghan stepped down following Saturday's 4-1 defeat away to Ballinamallard United.

The Gers picked up only one point over the final five fixtures of the season - and Callaghan has departed with the club facing a two-legged play-off against either Institute or Ballyclare to decide if they will retain their Premiership status.

The Mallards triumphed courtesy of goals from Ryans Mayse (2), Curran and Morris, with Daniel Kelly replying.

United boss Gavin Dykes said: "Ryan Curran signed a two-year contract and we're delighted with that. Richard Brush signed a new two-year deal as well and, more important as far as I'm concerned, James McKenna signed a one year deal with us. Those are huge positives and a real vote of confidence."
