Ballymena United have been dealt a blow with confirmation that midfielder Leroy Millar will be out of action for an extended period of time after breaking a bone in his foot.

The 24-year-old midfielder fractured his fourth metatarsal during the extra-time 2-1 defeat to Crusaders in the last eight of the Bet McLean League Cup at The Showgrounds.

A mainstay of David Jeffrey's side, it's another loss for the Sky Blues, who saw Adam Lecky shown a straight red card for lashing out at Crues midfielder Philip Lowry, with the big striker having only returned form a long-term injury himself.

"To receive confirmation of Leroy's injury this morning is of course terrible news for the club, but for Leroy this is personally devastating and he is our primary concern in all this. We are gutted for Leroy, and will ensure that all efforts will be made to ensure a swift and robust rehabilitation to get him recuperated," said Jeffrey

"In the week that we have been celebrating Ballymena United Legends, Leroy has already begun to establish a reputation for himself, not only as a local young man, but as an integral part of the squad, and there is no doubt his injury is a big loss to us in the meantime."
