Ballymena United will give it everything: Cushley
David Cushley has a simple message for the Sky Blue army heading to Windsor Park tomorrow – "we will give it our all".
Both sides have been starved of Irish Cup success but there's a golden opportunity to wipe out those years of hurt this weekend.
Cushley was on target as Linfield were put to the sword in the sixth round at Windsor and a similar performance against Glenavon could see the blue and white ribbons on the famous prize for the first time in 25 years.
You can reach out and touch the excitement in Lurgan and Ballymena and former Lisburn Distillery ace Cushley is raring to go.
"It could be an evenly contested game and very tight but we are ready to give it our all," said Cushley.
"We proved against Linfield that we have the players who can hurt teams and hopefully that's the case in the cup final.
"It's all about who can perform and be ruthless in taking their chances but I will stress again – we will give it everything.
"I won the League Cup with Distillery and we had the County Antrim Shield success last season but 100% this is my biggest moment.
"It's natural to feel some nerves but it's how you react to them that counts."
Cushley says an Irish Cup win would be a fitting tribute to the leadership qualities of boss Glenn Ferguson and his backroom staff.
"We lost two semi-finals this season but it's great to get to a final and that's the winning mentality Glenn has brought to the club," added the 24-year-old.
"The club is moving in the right direction and the fans can see that, that's why they have been in fine voice. They will come out in their numbers on Saturday and I can't wait for the big game."
