David Jeffrey was thrilled to see young Kofi Balmer mark his Ballymena United debut with a derby day strike against Coleraine.

The defender pounced to hammer home a first-half leveller after Jamie McGonigle had put the Bannsiders in front.

"It was a special moment for him on his big day," said Sky Blues boss David Jeffrey, whose side will host Dungannon in the European play-offs courtesy of their fourth-placed league finish.

"He kept his cool and took his chance well - an old head on young shoulders."

Coleraine have already booked their ticket to the Europa League and rested a number of players ahead of next week's Irish Cup final.

"It has been a long season and we wanted players fresh for next week," said manager Oran Kearney.
