Sky Blues and Crues march into final duel

By Adam McKendry

Ballymena United and Crusaders will contest this season's Toals County Antrim Shield final after they won their respective semi-finals last night.

The Sky Blues cruised past Ards 3-0 at the Ballymena Showgrounds, while Jordan Owens' first-half header was the solitary goal as the Crues overcame Carrick Rangers at Seaview.

The pair will now meet in the final, to be held at a yet to be determined venue, on Tuesday, January 23.

Ballymena were comfortable winners with Steven McCullough, Conor McCloskey and Cathair Friel all finding the back of the net as David Jeffrey's men secured their place in a final for the sixth consecutive season.

It was a lot closer in Belfast as Carrick ran Crusaders close at Seaview, however Owens' back-post finish settled the nervy tie.

Mark Clarke was sent off late for the visitors, who couldn't find that late equaliser to force extra-time.
