Linfield got their Danske Bank Premiership title assault back on track with a 2-1 victory over Ballymena United at the Showgrounds last night.

The Blues were hungry to return to winning ways after crashing to a 1-0 loss at Glenavon and David Healy's side moved five points behind leaders Coleraine, with two games in hand.

Kirk Millar broke the deadlock in the 10th minute for the visitors and Ryan McGivern doubled their lead on 37 minutes.

Two minutes later Adam Lecky reduced the deficit but the Blues, who had Bastien Hery sent off late on, held on for the victory.

United have now just won three of their last 16 league meetings with Linfield at the Showgrounds since October, 2010.

At Mourneview Park, Glenavon turned on the power to blow away Institute 3-1.

First half goals from Stephen Murray (2) and Robert Garrett had the Lurgan Blues cruising to three points. In the 84th minute, Jamie McIntyre grabbed a consolation for Stute.
