Cliftonville announce deadline day signing as midfielder moves to Solitude
Cliftonville have made a deadline day signing in the shape of Institute midfielder Aaron Harkin.
The 25-year-old moves to the north Belfast club to join older brother Ruairi, who joined from Coleraine in 2016.
Harkin had already signed a pre-contract agreement to move to the Reds in the summer but the club have announced that an agreement has been reached for his early release from his Stute contract.
He made his senior football breakthrough in the League of Ireland with Finn Harps in 2013 but moved to Institute in 2016 and was a key part of the squad that won the Championship and promotion to the Irish League's top tier last season.
Harkin has started 21 league games this term and scored his first Danske Bank Premiership goal in Stute's 3-3 draw with Glentoran in December.
He will be joined at Solitude by Warrenpoint Town's Seanna Foster in the summer. The former Linfield man signed a pre-contract agreement with the Reds earlier this month.
Cliftonville, of course, are in the process of identifying a new manager after Barry Gary's departure earlier this month.
