Crusaders spoil Joe Gormley's record-breaking party with injury-time winner
Crusaders 3-2 Cliftonville
Cliftonville hero Joe Gormley is now the club's overall record goal-scorer but his night was spoiled as Crusaders came from behind to claim an injury-time winner in the north Belfast derby
Gormley broke Kevin McNarry's record when he smashed home his 171st Cliftonville goal and followed it up with another, both from the spot, but the Crues snatched a late winner, courtesy of the Crues' record goal-getter Jordan Owens.
In the first Danske Bank Premiership game live on BBC 2, Gormley gave the Reds the advantage with his 14th minute strike after Colin Coates was adjudged to have handled inside the area.
Gormley held up a t shirt with '171 not out' printed on it in celebration.
Crusaders should have been ahead by then but Paul Heatley had uncharacteristically blasted over after Rory Patterson had beat his marker, drawn the keeper out and squared the ball.
Patterson, however, did equalise four minutes before the break when Owens' flicked header played him through.
After the break, Ross Clarke curled home a superb free-kick to put the Crues ahead but Gormley levelled with his second successful penalty of the night, blasting home after Owens had fouled Garry Breen.
However, Owens made amends when he converted as Richard Brush could only parry Rory Patterson's effort.
Meanwhile, Institute beat Ards 1-0 thanks to Aaron Jarvis' injury-time winner.
