Paddy McLaughlin has made his first signing as Cliftonville manager after securing a loan deal for Derry City defender Conor McDermott.

The 21-year-old, who has been unable to force his way into the Candystripes' line-up after returning from a hip operation last summer, could be in contention to make his debut when the Reds face Derry in a friendly on Friday week.

Cliftonville, who have also added former Warrenpoint Town full-back Seanna Foster on a pre-contract arrangement, remain in the hunt for Institute pair Aaron Jarvis and Ronan Doherty as boss McLaughlin reshapes his squad ahead of this month's return to Europa League action.

The latest player to leave Solitude, meanwhile, is Jaimie McGovern, who departs after seven years at the club with whom he won two Danske Bank Premiership titles and a record-breaking four consecutive League Cup crowns.

His exit comes on the back of Brian Neeson, Ruairi Harkin and Ryan Catney moving on, however the Reds this weekend announced that young keeper Declan Dunne had returned following a loan spell at Portadown.
