Clingan double helps Glenavon to comeback victory over Glentoran
Two Sammy Clingan penalties helped Glenavon to a 3-1 win at the Oval on Tuesday evening.
The Lurgan Blues move to within five points of league leaders Coleraine with the comeback victory, leaving the Glens in sixth place, five points behind Linfield having played a game more.
Glentoran took an early lead when former Glenavon forward Robbie McDaid glanced in a header from Curtis Allen's cross.
But a matter of seconds later and Glenavon had levelled through top-scorer Andrew Mitchell. It was a close-range finish after his striker-partner Mark Griffin headed Bobby Burns' cross back across the goalmouth.
The comeback was complete during the second half when two penalty kicks allowed Clingan to take his personal tally to six league goals - all from the spot.
