Clubs learn their League Cup fate, while Warrenpoint net Halfpenny

The draw for the first round of the BetMcLean League Cup was made yesterday.

The first round fixtures on Saturday, August 4 are Lurgan Celtic v Armagh City, PSNI v Banbridge Town, Dundela v Knockbreda and Queen's University v Lisburn Distillery.

The 12 clubs receiving a bye into the second round are Annagh United, Ballyclare Comrades, Dergview, Dollingstown, Larne, Limavady United, Loughgall, Moyola Park, Newington YC, Portstewart, Sport & Leisure Swifts and Tobermore United.

Meanwhile, Warrenpoint Town have signed midfielder Noel Halfpenny.

The 22-year-old joins from Crumlin Star, where he won a league and cup treble.

Boss Stephen McDonnell said: "I'm delighted to add to our squad with the addition of Noel Halfpenny.

"Noel has impressed us with his approach to training and has impressed myself and all the staff in all aspects of his game.

"We are very happy to secure his services for the campaign ahead."
