Coleraine midfielder Brad Lyons seals Championship move

By Gareth Hanna

Coleraine midfielder Brad Lyons will join Blackburn Rovers.

The 21-year-old impressed the Ewood Park staff during a trial earlier this summer, although Bannsiders boss Oran Kearney had said he did not expect a move to go through.

A deal has now been agreed at the last gasp, an extension secured to make sure an initial loan move is secured, even though the 5pm deadline has passed for English Football League clubs.

Lyons will move to the Championship side on an initial loan deal that will turn into an 18-month contract in January.

Lyons has already amassed 94 league appearances for Coleraine, scoring 17 goals including two in three appearances at the start of this season.

Blackburn, managed by Tony Mowbray, have won three of their opening five Championship games.

Lyons will joined Northern Ireland midfielder Corry Evans in the Blackburn squad.

The move comes a day after Coleraine re-signed defender Aaron Canning.
