Kearney joy as Coleraine extend lead

By Jonathan McNabb

Coleraine stretched their lead at the top of the Danske Bank Premiership to five points after a 4-1 victory over Ards last night.

The Bannsiders led 2-0 at half-time thanks to a brace from Gareth McConaghie, before Josh Carson and Martin Smith struck home to secure all three points at The Showgrounds.

A delighted Coleraine boss Oran Kearney said: "There were panic stations across the country after our loss on Saturday, but not in our changing room.

"I thought our performance was right on the money and we sustained it for the entire 90 minutes."

Elsewhere, Crusaders picked up their fifth successive league victory after a 4-0 win against Dungannon Swifts.

A double from man of the match Gavin Whyte handed them all three points, while Rodney Brown and David Cushley also scored for Stephen Baxter's side ahead of their visit to Coleraine this Saturday.
