Oran Kearney believes his ruthless Coleraine will only get better

Ballinamallard United 0 Coleraine 3

Coleraine produced a dominant performance at Ferney as Oran Kearney's side returned home with the points following a 3-0 win over a disappointing Ballinamallard United outfit.

Having knocked at the door throughout the first half, the Bannsiders finally made the breakthrough in the opening minute of the second period through Ian Parkhill.

And with Jamie McGonigle adding a double, Coleraine ran out comfortable winners.

Kearney's side arrived in good form, while the Mallards were still searching for their first league win of the season.

Kearney felt, therefore, it was important for his side to start the game on the front foot.

"I said (to my players) we start today standing on two feet and they start on one knee and I'm not being disrespectful to Ballinamallard," he explained.

"I said to them that you have a choice as a player; start easily and allow them to gradually get up on to two feet and maybe see what happens or start real fast and keep them pinned down there and try and really go on the front foot and I think it worked.

"We have set a bar, we believe that bar is high but it is attainable with the players that we have got and, as I keep saying to them, they keep chinning it and they chinned it again today."

For Ballinamallard manager Gavin Dykes, though, it was a disappointing day at the office.

"We were very poor and that's not acceptable," he said. "We were flat, no work rate, no penetration of any type. I've no problem with getting beaten but I do have a problem when we put in a performance like that."
