Crusaders in Fleetwood Town challenge to make improved offer for rising star Josh Robinson

By Stuart McKinley

Crusaders have knocked back an offer from Fleetwood Town for defender Josh Robinson. The 22-year-old has had a trial at the League One club and although he is out of contract he won't be leaving Seaview for free.

"We are still awaiting the outcome of Josh Robinson. His preferred option is to go to England and forge a career for himself," said Baxter, who has been named as Manager of the Month for April in a Crusaders double, with Gavin Whyte winning the Player of the Month.

"He had a trial at Fleetwood, they said he did well and they were expected to make an offer, but they didn't really make an offer of any significance or interest.

"He is out of contract, but he falls under the compensation rules and there could be a value of £65,000."

Baxter, who has already secured David Cushley from Ballymena United and Michael Gault from Portadown on pre-contracts, also revealed that he has two more players signed-up, but has agreed not to name them yet.

One of the unnamed men is believed to be Coleraine captain Howard Beverland.
