David Healy: Don’t keep moaning, have a ball

There has been an incredible furore about the new ball being used at the World Cup.

Players and coaches have had a right go at it.

I haven’t played with the Jabulani ball, but I can’t believe it is as bad as they are saying in South Africa.

Down the years, normally in Northern Ireland away games, I’ve played with different footballs and while it may take a little while to get used to I’ve never seen it as a big deal.

From a distance I think a lot of excuses are being made for poor play. I’ve watched some players hit the ball out for a throw when they were making a short pass.

That’s a basic error, nothing to do with the ball.

I’d just like to see everyone get on with it instead of having a moan. Put it this way, I wish I had the chance to play with this World Cup ball.
