Dungannon defeat Glenavon 1-0 in a Mid-Ulster derby at Mourneview Park

By Adrian Rutherford

Andrew Mitchell scored a late winner to hand Dungannon a dramatic win at Glenavon.

His 89th minute tap-in from a Cormac Burke cross saw the Swifts snatch victory in this Mid-Ulster derby at Mourneview Park.

Mitchell has now taken his tally for the season to an impressive 13 goals.

The best first half opportunity fell to Dungannon after 27 minutes.

Jamie Glackin’s strike from the edge of the box was well blocked by goalkeeper Jonny Tuffey.

The ball rebounded to Mitchell but again Tuffey came out on top, denying the striker at close range.

In the second half Glenavon's Andy Hall saw his side-foot volley parried wide.

But just as the game seemed destined to finish scoreless, Mitchell struck the winner.
