Dungannon Swifts boss Darren Murphy has seen it all

Dungannon SW 4 - B'namallard 2

By Adrian Rutherford

Darren Murphy admits he should have known better than to expect a straightforward derby duel with Ballinamallard United.

The Dungannon Swifts boss saw his side race into a 2-0 lead through Matt Hazley and Jamie Glackin only to be forced into extra-time thanks to goals from visiting duo Johnny Courtney and David Kee.

The Mallards' chances of a comeback were dented when Johnny Lafferty was red-carded for an off-the-ball incident and Dungannon took full advantage of their numerical superiority with substitute Gary Liggett pouncing twice to wrap up victory.

"It was a strange game," said Murphy. "But given the games we've been involved in this season, you shouldn't expect any different. There's always excitement."
