Glackin thrilled to rediscover golden touch

By Adrian Rutherford

Dungannon Swifts star Jamie Glackin believes he is back to his best form - and has left the frustration of last season firmly behind him.

The 22-year-old winger has been one of the top performers for the Swifts this term.

He hit the headlines again last weekend with a stunning 89th-minute winner against Glentoran.

It is a welcome return to form for Glackin, whose performances had dipped after a memorable 2014-15 season.

But the player believes he has overcome that setback to show why he is rated as one of Irish League football's best young prospects.

"I've had a good season. I said at the start that I wanted to put in a good pre-season and see where it takes me," he said. "To be fair I feel I've stepped up to the mark.

"I could have done with a few more goals but my assists are on the up, so I'm happy with that."

After a poor run, Dungannon have also hit form as the season enters its final days.

They followed up last weekend's win over Glentoran with a 4-1 victory at Ballinamallard on Tuesday night.

Rodney McAree's side now need just one win from their last two games - against Carrick Rangers tomorrow and Portadown next weekend - to secure seventh.

Glackin wants a rousing finish to the campaign.

"We want to finish strongly, we're still in with a great chance of that seventh spot and we want to end the season on a high," he added.
