Dungannon Swifts dumped neighbours Glenavon out of the Tennent's Irish Cup last night and set up a quarter-final with Championship side Ballinamallard United.

Paul McElroy's first-half penalty proved to be the difference as Swifts shocked the Lurgan Blues 1-0.

Dungannon boss and former Glenavon coach Kris Lindsay said: "I'm delighted with the result, I thought from back to front we were excellent. We won our individual battles, limited Glenavon to few clear-cut chances and kept our second clean sheet in a row."

Elsewhere, there were no problems for fellow Premiership sides Ballymena United and Warrenpoint Town, who progressed with wins over Portadown and Queen's University respectively, while the Mallards defeated Carrick Rangers 1-0.
