Improving Dungannon side will stay up, says Harpur

Ryan Harpur is convinced Dungannon Swifts will not be relegated this season.

With half of the 38 games played, the Co Tyrone side sit second bottom of the table, having amassed just three wins and 15 points to date.

Today they visit Warrenpoint Town in a basement battle which, even at this stage of the campaign, neither side can contemplate losing.

However, Harpur insists it is only a matter of time before Dungannon pull clear of danger.

"We definitely believe we can get out of it - 100%," he said.

After a miserable run of results, Swifts' confidence has been lifted by two wins from their last three games.

It has taken them six points clear of Warrenpoint - and that gap could be stretched to nine by 5pm today.

Harpur believes it's vital they follow up last Friday night's win over Glenavon with another three points.

"It's important to try and keep the momentum going," the Dungannon captain added.

"Momentum is a big thing in football and you're always looking for one win to lead to another.

"It makes Saturday's game all the more important."

Harpur believes recent performances have helped to restore morale within the Dungannon changing room.

"We've beaten Coleraine who were on a great run and it was a really good performance away from home," he added.

"Then you look at our performance against Portadown. Okay we lost, but we matched the league leaders and deserved at least a draw.

"So overall I think our confidence is quite high, and we need to go into this weekend's game with all guns blazing."
