Ferris on a roll to keep Loughgall ahead of pack
Nathaniel Ferris took his goal tally into double figures to help keep Loughgall at the top of the Bluefin Sport Championship table, on a day when the top three all claimed victories.
Ferris netted his 10th league goal of the season, adding to a double strike from Peter Campbell as the Villagers claimed a 3-1 victory away to Dundela to stay a point clear of local rivals Portadown at the summit.
The Ports won for the first time in three games, but they were mightily relieved to come away with a 2-0 win over Dergview.
The Castlederg men had hit the crossbar in either half before being caught out by a long ball out of defence which Lee Bonis headed home past advancing goalkeeper Alan Buchanan on 80 minutes. The Dergview goalkeeper had further agony piled on him in injury time when Adam Salley's 25-yard effort rebounded off the crossbar before hitting him on the back and going into the net.
Ballinamallard United came from a goal down to beat H&W Welders 4-2 and record their fifth win in six league games, which keeps them four points behind Portadown.
Scott Davidson's goal had the Welders 1-0 up at half time before the Mallards took control with Sean McEvoy, Ryan O'Reilly and Jason McCartney all on target.
Ryan Deans did get one back for the Welders, but Richard Clarke made sure of the points for Ballinamallard from the penalty spot. Newry City moved into fourth place with a 6-1 away win at PSNI, which took their goal tally to 16 in the last four league games.

They were only 1-0 up at half time thanks to Mark McCabe, but put PSNI to the sword after the break when Stevie Moan, McCabe, Darren King and Mark Hughes had them 5-0 up before James Turk hit a consolation for the police and Adam Foley completed the six-hit late in the game. Ards needed a penalty from Michael McClellan to rescue a first point in three games at Ballyclare Comrades.
Gary Donnelly put the Comrades in front before McClellan netted from the spot.
Queen's University are now level on points with Ballyclare after a 3-1 win over Knockbreda.
Goals from Leon Bonnes and Jonah Mitchell had them 2-0 up at half time before Ciaran O'Hare added the third after the break.
