Dundela Football Club have invited former players to join in their 125 year anniversary celebrations.

The east Belfast club will host a special anniversary dinner on Saturday, June 6 next year at the Europa Hotel and it promises to be a special night for everyone associated with the Duns.

The Wilgar Park side boast a proud and successful history, with their Irish Cup success in 1955 the major highlight.

That was one of the great Irish Cup shocks when Dundela stunned Glenavon 3-0 at Windsor Park in front of 10,000 fans.

Much of the Duns’ success came under legendary former manager Mervyn Bell who joined the club as a player in 1966.

He guided the Duns to 10.5 league titles, seven Intermediate Cups, six Steel and Sons Cups, four Smirnoff Cups and three George Wilson Cups.

The 76-year-old's association with the club involved more than 1,700 matches.

Any players wishing to support the dinner should contact the football club secretary, Jimmy Stead, on 07903 810 982.
