Gary Hamilton's Glenavon side registered their fifth win of the campaign as they returned from Ferney Park with the points following a 1-0 win over Ballinamallard United.
The only goal of the game arrived four minutes after the interval through Joel Cooper who produced a low finish past keeper Alvin Rouse and it was nothing less than Glenavon deserved after bossing the contest.
Hamilton's men remain in fifth position in the Danske Bank Premiership table but have moved to within a point of Coleraine.
The visitors were much the livelier side in the opening period but Rouse foiled Eoin Bradley and Kevin Braniff. The breakthrough arrived in the 49th minute as Braniff produced a clever flick into the path of Cooper who skipped into the box before firing a low shot into the corner of the net.
Braniff hit the side netting soon after when he latched on to a loose pass from Mallards defender Jason McCartney while Bradley was close to grabbing a second in the 63rd minute.
He outmuscled Colm McLoughlin from a long punt forward and raced through to clip the ball over Rouse but McLoughlin got back to hook the ball off the line.
