Glentoran talk was tempting but my heart said Portadown: Matthew Tipton
New Portadown manager Matthew Tipton last night admitted talk of potential interest from Glentoran was tempting, but that he ultimately followed his heart to Shamrock Park.
The 37-year-old left Warrenpoint Town by mutual consent and was confirmed as Portadown boss only hours later at a press conference.
Glentoran will be in the market for a permanent manager this summer and Tipton was one name that had been linked with the job. He admitted the task of reviving the Oval club was one that caught his eye, but that his heart was already set on a return to the club he played for back in 2011 and 2012.

"You're always tempted but the grass isn't always greener," he said. "The fact is that Portadown approached me and then appointed me.
"It’s like being in a nightclub and a pretty woman is looking at you, flutters the eyelashes and asks you to dance, but when you know there is someone that you have had your eye on a little while longer you go for what’s it in your heart and that's what I’ve done."
