Glentoran thank Linfield doctor after medic comes to supporter's aid

Glentoran have paid tribute to the Linfield doctor who came to a Glentoran supporter's aid after he suffered a heart attack before Saturday's fixture.

Lifelong Glentoran fan Allen Davidson took ill prior to kick-off and was treated at the scene by Blues medical officer Tim Atkinson, Glens supporter Ian Jamieson and St John's Ambulance staff.

Mr Davidson was taken to hospital in Belfast where he is said to be stable.

Glentoran spokesperson Ian Clarke said: "The supporter who took ill at Windsor Park on Saturday is a lifelong Glenman and without doubt one of the best known faces around the Oval for many decades.

"We wish him the best for a speedy recovery and hope to see him back supporting the team before long.

"We also express our appreciation to the Linfield doctor Tim Atkinson for his swift action and to everyone who played their part in ensuring things were handled so swiftly and effectively."

Glens boss Gary Haveron added his thanks to the Linfield medical man and wished Mr Davidson a speedy recovery.
