Glentoran to face Linfield in League Cup clash

Glentoran will host Linfield in the third round of the NIFL League Cup.

The Big Two rivals will meet at the Oval on Tuesday October 8 after being paired together in last night's last 16 draw.

Both teams had 2-0 win over Championship opposition to reach the third round, with Mark Miskimmin netting on his Glentoran debut against Ballyclare Comrades, while Matthew Tipton and Mark McAllister scored as the Blues beat Knockbreda.

Bangor, who beat Premiership newboys Warrenpoint Town in Monday night's second round, will fancy their chances of a quarter-final place after they were drawn to face Lurgan Celtic.

Lisburn Distillery were drawn at home to Portadown, but they will travel to Shamrock Park because of floodlight issues at New Grosvenor.

NIFL League Cup Round Three: Ballymena United v Ballinamallard United, Cliftonville v Dundela, Dungannon Swifts v Ards, Glentoran v Linfield, Lisburn Distillery v Portadown (to be played at Shamrock Park), Crusaders v Coleraine, Bangor v Lurgan Celtic, Glenavon v Institute. Ties to be played on Tuesday October 8.

e NORTHERN Ireland under-17s lost 3-1 to Ukraine in the Syrenka Cup in Poland yesterday.

Ben Kennedy from Stevenage scored the Northern Ireland goal.
