Glentoran are the latest side to strengthen their squad in the January transfer window by announcing the signing of midfielder Ciaran O'Connor.

The arrival of the Dundalk native is the latest boost to fans of The Oval club after the recent signing of Finn Harps captain Keith Cowan and the contract extensions of Paul O'Neill and Navid Nasseri.

23-year-old O'Connor joins as a free agent after leaving Warrenpoint Town in October and will link up with the squad on January 1.

The attacking midfielder lined out for Warrenpoint on 60 occasions, scoring nine goals and adding 11 assists in an impressive spell under Stephen McDonnell.

Before playing for the 'Point, O'Connor also represented hometown club Dundalk, Bohemians and Derry City, while he also had a two-year spell with Finn Harps.

"I’m delighted to have signed for Glentoran. This move was a no brainer in the end for me. Once they explained the plans they have for the club going forward it was a very easy decision for me in the end and I'm delighted to get the deal over the line," said O'Connor.

"It is also great that I'll be back in such a professional environment again which really excites me so I can fully focus on football again. It’s an opportunity I didn’t think I was going to get at this stage but thankfully it has happened, and I look forward to getting started."
