Glentoran cancel contract of midfielder John McGuigan
Glentoran have cancelled the contract of midfielder John McGuigan, who has left The Oval with immediate effect.
The 25-year-old leaves after a year-and-a-half with the club, who signed him from Warrenpoint Town prior to last season.
This had been McGuigan's second season with the Glens having come up through their youth system and started his career with the east Belfast side.
He left The Oval in January 2015 to join Warrenpoint, with whom he excelled, earning a move back to his boyhood club.
However, an injury plagued time with Glentoran saw him play just 36 games for them during his 18 months with the team, scoring seven goals.
"John McGuigan's contract has been cancelled and he has left the club," read Glentoran's brief statement.
"John's wage, along with wages already freed up and any others freed up during the transfer window, will be made available to the manager to strengthen the playing squad."

Meanwhile, Glentoran's game against Glenavon has been chosen as Sky Sports' final live Irish League game of the season.
The game, which will be played on Monday February 18 at The Oval with a 7.45pm kick-off, comes two days after the BetMcLean League Cup final, which will also be shown live on Sky.
