Glentoran manager Alan Kernaghan pleaded with the club's fans to be patient after last night's horror show at Coleraine.

The Bannsiders cruised to a 4-1 win at the Showgrounds, piling the pressure on the Oval boss.

A shocked Kernaghan said: "We are trying to do something new here. I understand the fans' frustrations but I am appealing to them to be patient."

The Glens have now lost three of their opening five Danske Bank Premiership matches.

Fans hailed the arrival of Rangers old boy Nacho Novo but the Spaniard is yet to get off the mark. Novo did claim an assist for Jonathan Smith's goal but strikes from James McLaughlin (2), Neil McCafferty and Darren McCauley had already sealed the visitors' fate.

Glenavon joined Ards at the top of the table after overcoming Niall Currie's side 1-0 while Ballymena United coasted to a 4-1 win at Carrick Rangers.
