Holders Linfield are OUT as Ards and Crusaders into County Antrim Shield semis

Linfield 0-1 Ards; Cliftonville 2-3 Crusaders

Holders Linfield have been ousted from the County Antrim Shield after suffering their fifth defeat in seven matches.

Ards edged a 1-0 win at Windsor Park to seal their place in the semi-finals while a late Paul Heatley double earned Crusaders a 3-2 win over north Belfast rivals Cliftonville.

It was Ards winger David McAllister who got the goal that dumped the Blues out of the competition as he netted in the 48th minute at Windsor Park. The 23 year old had missed an early opportunity when the sides met on Saturday but made no such mistake two days later.

A Joe Gormley double, meanwhile, had sent Cliftonville 2-1 ahead at Solitude until Paul Heatley netted a late double to reverse the scores. A David Cushley penalty had given the visiting Crues a 14th minute lead.

Carrick Rangers beat Dundela 4-2 and Ballymena United beat Glentoran 1-0 in last week's first two quarter-final matches.

The semi-finals are both scheduled to take place on Tuesday November 28 with the final set for Tuesday January 23.
