Irish League clubs Ballymena United, Dungannon and Glentoran will be joined by League of Ireland side Finn Harps in today's STATSports SuperCupNI Minor section semi-finals.

The four Irish clubs all won their groups to set up two intriguing semi-finals, with a place in tomorrow's final at the Coleraine Showgrounds up for grabs.

In the last four ties, Ballymena United will play Dungannon United, while Glentoran will take on Finn Harps, who won Group A despite losing 5-3 to Portadown at the Riada Stadium in Ballymoney.

Linfield's 2-1 win over Ballyclare Colts in Portrush meant the Blues and the Harps were level on points, but the boys from Donegal progressed thanks to a superior goal difference.

Dungannon United, feeder club to Dungannon Swifts, defeated Warrenpoint Town 3-0 at the University to seal Group B.

At the same venue, Beijing BFA impressed in their 3-1 win over Ballinamallard United. Ethan Kelly scored twice for the Mallards, with Sam Anderson also on target.

Glentoran's 2-1 win over Coleraine in Broughshane was enough to see the Belfast side into the semis with goals from Brendan Hamilton and Jude Johnson.

At the start of the day, the Bannsiders, the Glens, Bertie Peacocks and Global Premier Soccer were all level on three points each, but as Peacocks and GPS played out a 2-2 draw at the University, Glentoran's win landed them top spot in Group C.

In Group D, Ballymena United progressed by a single point. Their 1-1 draw with Glenavon in Portstewart was enough to secure a spot in the last four with Callum Douglas scoring the crucial equaliser, while holders Greenisland defeated Larne 2-0 at the University.

Even though Larne will not compete in the semi-finals, first-team coach Tim McCann believes it has been an invaluable learning experience for the young Inver Reds, including McCann's young son Cillian.

"Something like this, a week-long tournament, is fantastic for these kids," said McCann. "For Under-13s to get a chance to see what it is like to be a full-time footballer is a great experience. They are together for a full week, and they will learn so much. A lot of these players are young as well so will be back next year.

"Hopefully it stands them in good stead.

"My young son Cillian is in the Larne squad and it is great to come down and watch the team. He is a year younger and this is a massive experience for him.

"As a family we are extremely proud of him. He has enjoyed some game time, but the whole week is experience for him and the others. It is brilliant to see."
