The 2021-22 Danske Bank Premiership has already been a thrilling watch and there is more, much more, to come. As the top flight prepares for a busy December, we assess how the 12 sides have performed to date and consider what will happen next.

Cliftonville (34 points, played 16)

Table-toppers and the team of the season so far. True, they haven’t won any of their last three league games, but away to Linfield, Coleraine and Larne, only the Blues beat them in a slippery run of fixtures. That shows there’s substance in Paddy McLaughlin’s side as well as style. Jonny Addis and Jamie McDonagh have been inspired signings, Ryan Curran is a revelation and it’s great to see Joe Gormley firing again. It’s unlikely they’ll lift the title, but the Reds can sustain a challenge and win a knockout competition. This campaign promises much for Cliftonville fans.

Linfield (32 pts, pld 15)
