Kilmore want Linfield again

Gary Kennedy endured one of the worst nights of his football career against Linfield just three months ago.

But that isn’t stopping the Kilmore Rec manager from wanting to face the Blues again.

The Crossgar men were hammered 11-0 by David Jeffrey’s double-winners in the County Antrim Shield semi-final and the dubious reward for the winners of this afternoon’s Irish Cup fifth round replay between Kilmore and Amateur League rivals Dunmurry Rec is a daunting trip to face the holders at Windsor Park.

“Everything that could go wrong did go wrong that night and we couldn’t wait for the 90 minutes to end, but I’d love another crack at Linfield just to prove that they’re not 11 goals better than us,” said Kennedy.

Portadown, who were beaten by Linfield in last year’s final, await the winners of Ards and H&W Welders, who will be meeting for the first time.

Limavady United and Coleraine will also be meeting for the first time, but the winners won’t know who their opponents in round six are until Carrick Rangers and Shankill United decide their replay tomorrow night.
