Linfield forward Aaron Burns made available for January transfer

By Gareth Hanna

Linfield have made Aaron Burns available to other clubs after it was announced he will not be offered a new deal at Windsor Park.

The 25 year-old has made 273 appearances during two spells at the club, scoring 91 goals in the process.

He has started just seven of Linfield's 21 Premiership fixtures so far this term and the Blues have this month signed strikers Kurtis Byrne and Achille Campion (on loan).

On Thursday evening, manager David Healy confirmed that Burns could leave the club this month.

He said: "I want to make our supporters aware that I met with Aaron Burns tonight and advised him that he would not be offered a contract at the end of the season. Furthermore, he would be available to offers from other clubs during the remainder of the January transfer window."

Glenavon have long been linked with the Banbridge man with Ballymena United, where his twin brother Andrew plays, and Championship side Larne also rumoured to be interested. Larne, of course, have received significant investment from Purple Bricks co-founder Kenny Bruce and recently signed former Linfield forward Thomas Stewart.

Burns, along with his brother, runs Burns Soccer School, a commitment which will no doubt play its part in his next choice for his playing career.
