Linfield goalkeeper Lauren Perry is Women's Football Personality of the Year

At the age of just 17, Lauren Perry has been named Women's Football Personality of the Year at the NI Football Awards.

The Linfield goalkeeper has enjoyed a rapid rise over the last 12 months, having only arrived at Linfield in March 2017.

She went on to star for Northern Ireland at the UEFA Women's Under 19 Championships last summer, putting in stellar performances against Spain, Scotland and Germany.

Those displays soon, and unsurprisingly, led to a senior debut, when she was named Player of the Match in a 4-1 World Cup qualifying defeat to Norway in September.

Back on the domestic front, Lauren was named NIFL Player of the Season for 2017 after helping Linfield to the Danske Bank Women's Premiership title.

Also nominated for Women's Football Personality of the Year were Kirsty McGuinness and Julie Nelson.

The NI Football Awards are hosted by the Northern Ireland Football Writers' Association and the Northern Ireland Football League.
