Linfield Swifts can make history and retain Steel and Sons Cup: Moore
Linfield Swifts goalkeeper Alex Moore hopes the club can make a special bit of history on Christmas morning.
The Wee Blues have never won the Steel and Sons Cup two years in a row but, after last season's success over Dundela, a back-to-back triumph is within reach.
Moore has cherished memories of the victory over the Duns, but if they can overcome Newington at Seaview on Monday (10.45am) the celebrations will be taken to another level.
"I'm really looking forward to it," the shot-stopper said.
"A few of the players played in last year's final, and we definitely know what it means and how big a day it is. Hopefully that experience will help the other boys who haven't played in it before.
"Winning it last season was a great day, but victory on Monday would be an even greater achievement as the team is even younger.
"We would love to make a bit of history and win it back-to-back.
"All of our younger players are coping really well against more experienced opposition so hopefully we can do the same on Christmas Day.
"A few lads have first-team experience and that should stand us in good stead. The young lads are composed on the ball and I'm confident they will do well.
"The lads want a professional contract and that comes when you improve and get better," Moore added on the Linfield website.
