Linfield boss David Healy lands Kiwi Kris Bright

By Billy Weir

David Healy is hoping a Kiwi can add a little more polish to his already impressive attacking options.

The Blues, who blasted four goals past Glenavon on Saturday, have brought New Zealand international Kris Bright to Windsor Park.

Bright has been capped six times for the All Whites, scoring once against Thailand back in 2009, and comes to Northern Ireland after a spell in South Africa with Bidvest Wits of the ABSA Premiership.

The much-travelled striker (29) will certainly add a bit of presence to the front line, measuring 6 foot two and half inches, but will have to wait on international clearance before making his debut.

"He's an experienced and well travelled player with an extensive CV covering clubs in Holland, Hungary, Norway, Finland, Greece and Malta, as well as Shrewsbury Town and Lincoln City in England," explained Healy.

"He comes to us highly-rated and he's a tall, strong forward who will increase our striking options and give us something different up front.

"I'd like to welcome him to the club and to Northern Ireland.

"I've been searching high and low, far and near for a striker to increase our competition levels in attack and I'm delighted that Kris has come all this way to sign for us."

- Glentoran last night signed Moldovan international Alex Leu on a one year contract. The 25-year-old has one full cap.

Glens boss Alan Kernaghan said: "We are delighted to add a full international player to further improve our squad."
