Reigning Irish League winners Linfield have exited the Champions League at the first hurdle after a 4-0 defeat against Rosenborg in Norway.

After losing the first leg at Windsor Park 2-0, the Blues showed little signs of coming back into the tie at the Lerkendal Stadium.

However Linfield will have another bite of the European cherry and will now face Faroe Islands side HB Torshavn in the Europa League Second Qualifying Round.

Torshavn lost 5-2 on aggregate to HJK Helsinki in their Champions League qualifier.

In Norway, Anders Konradsen opened the scorning for Rosenborg in the 20th minute and the Norwegian side entered the break as 3-0 aggregate leaders.

Konradsen bagged his second in the 51st minute before Babajide David scored another in the 69th.

Pål André Helland completed the scoring for the home side in the 85th minute to send Linfield out of the competition.
