Linfield suffer Roy Carroll injury blow

By Josh Bunting

Linfield goalkeeper Roy Carroll will be out for 'quite a number of weeks'.

The Blues manager David Healy confirmed that the Northern Ireland stopper will be kept out after scan results revealed the extent of an injury sustained in the 2-2 draw with Ballymena.

In a statement published on the Linfield website late on Monday night, Healy said: “The results of the scan on his knee reveal that he will be out of action for quite a number of weeks.

“We are naturally disappointed to be without Roy and we wish him well for a speedy recovery. Injuries are part and parcel of football and this unfortunate injury to Roy has given young Gareth Deane an opportunity and I have every faith in both him and our other promising young keeper, Alex Moore."

Carroll, who has only missed two league fixtures all season, is a big loss for the Blues who currently sit fifth in the Danske Bank Premiership but have a chance to move back to fourth with a victory in tonight’s fixture away to Warrenpoint Town.

Healy also confirmed that January signing Achille Campion and Stephen Falllon are out injured but added that both are expected to return to the squad next week.
