Rangers join chase to sign young Linfield star Charlie Allen
Linfield's in-demand young rising star Charlie Allen is now on the radar of Rangers.
Rangers coach and former manager Graeme Murty revealed their interest in the 15-year-old as part of a wider plan to recruit emerging young Northern Ireland talent.
Murty led a Rangers development side, including Northern Ireland U21 defender Daniel Finlayson, to a 5-1 victory over Crusaders in a testimonial for Declan Caddell at the weekend.
And he expressed Rangers' determination to add to a group of emerging young Northern Ireland players at Ibrox.
"Charlie Allen at Linfield has been mentioned and we know him very well," Murty said of the player also being monitored by the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham.
"We have just taken Ross McCausland and Lewis Mackinnon in with three-year professional deals and Chris McKee moved across last year so we are always looking to refresh and bring players in. We have another Northern Ireland youth international in Cameron Palmer, who is out on loan at Partick Thistle."
Allen has already attracted the attention of Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham and Leicester City, leading Blues manager David Healy to predict: "He will not celebrate his 17th birthday here."
