Striker Kurtis Byrne joins Welsh side TNS from Linfield

By Adam McKendry

Linfield striker Kurtis Byrne has left the club to join top Welsh side The New Saints (TNS) for the new season.

Byrne, 28, leaves Windsor Park after just five months with the Blues after a mid-season move from St Pat's Athletic in January.

In all, the Irish striker netted six goals in 18 appearances for Linfield in a tough year that saw them miss out on European football.

Byrne made his name in Scotland with several different clubs, appearing for Hibernian, Ross County, East Fife, Alloa and Brechin, after a youth career at Norwich City.

The experienced finisher also had stints back in Ireland with Dundalk, Bohemians and St Pat's before joining Linfield.

"I’m delighted to get it done and I’m excited for the season to start," Byrne told TNS' official website. "I trained today with the lads for the first time and it was good to get back into it.”
