Warren Feeney was named as a surprise replacement for Colin Nixon at the helm of Ards who are currently facing a relegation battle having won just 3 league games out of 29 this season.

And while Feeney's appointment may have come as a bit of shock for Irish League supporters, it's garnered the attention of a high profile name.

Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler tweeted his support for the former Linfield boss, passing on his congratulations to his old teammate.

Fowler and Feeney played together at Cardiff in 2007, where they became good pals.

Feeney was officially unveiled earlier on today, and gave his thoughts on returning to the Irish League, his family connections with Ards, and what he reckons their odds are of surviving the Premiership relegation battle.
