Loughgall 1 Coagh United 2

Coagh United progressed to the sixth round of the Irish Cup thanks to an Aaron Campbell double against Loughgall at Lakeview Park last night.

And Stephen Uprichard’s side will fancy their chances of making the quarter-finals when they face Intermediate League side Newbuildings United in the next round on February 11.

Loughgall almost took the lead on 12 minutes when Adam Pedlow broke into the box but his shot was well saved by Johnny Yorke.

But it was the visitors who went ahead two minutes later. Steven Park delivered a cross to the back post and Campbell converted.

And the same two combined to double Coagh’s lead on 17 minutes. Park raced through before playing Campbell in to score.

Stephen Doyle pulled a goal back for Loughgall on 34 minutes, finding the far corner of the net.

Loughgall came out with gusto in the second half but were always at risk from a Coagh side who weren’t slow to launch counter attacks.

Coagh should have restored their two-goal lead on 54 minutes but Park nodded Scott McGeown’s header over from point-blank range.

Three minutes later Marc Robinson kept Loughgall in it when he saved Campbell’s shot from the edge of the box.

Park went close again on 75 minutes, when put through by Colin Donaldson, but shot wide.

Yorke saved from Gregg Hall late on.
