Mannus and Gault reject new Linfield deals

By Stuart McKinley

Linfield's two current Northern Ireland internationals have turned down the offer of new contracts from the club.

And although both goalkeeper Alan Mannus and midfielder Michael Gault have given manager David Jeffrey assurances that they will talk again, there is no guarantee that they will sign.

Both players are out of contract at the end of the season and with them being past their 25th birthday they can leave for free.

Mannus looks the most likely to leave Windsor Park. He has attracted interest in both England and Scotland and had been expected to be the subject of an offer in the summer transfer window.

Michael Carvill, who joined the Blues on a one-year contract in August, has also rejected a new deal, preferring to keep his options open.

Mannus will be in the Northern Ireland squad for the friendly against Hungary when it is named today, while Gault is currently out with an ankle injury.
